In The Light of Darkness
45:49 – 10 Tracks
Classic clean sounding black/death metal. Some thrashy stuff happening, but it’s mostly from the Satyricon vein of black metal. Good clean catchy metal, but with some more death metal stuff… maybe some Behemoth type moments as well. Great stuff!
46:48 – 9 Tracks
This is some in your face black metal…. a wall of old school sounding repetitive music… just crushing your ears with some way out front screamy, yet dark vocals. Basically it’s some good ol classic black metal.
31:18 – 11 Tracks
What. The. Fuck. Why send this to metal radio? Poppy punk or whatever. Lyrics are funny, but not metal… call me back when you talk to Psychostick.
A Call To Arms
53:29 – 11 Tracks
A good sounding new wave of american metal type band. A heavier take on thrashy stuff… they say it’s for fans of Machine Head, Pantera and Slayer… and that’s pretty spot on. It has a bit of each of those bands while still having their own sound… while not groundbreaking, it’s a solid album with catchy riffs, heavy to make you want to start a circle pit and to beat down some emo kids. 🙂
29:24 – 7 Tracks
This is one of those heavy “core” bands that is really heavy on one hand, then flips into some clean singy stuff, then gets all heavy again… metal core? Overall though, the heavy stuff is cool, it’s pretty catchy and hitting the “BRUTAL” category too… the breakdowns have some cool extra riffage to them too.
9:37 – 3 Tracks
Only a 3 song sampler… but it starts off sounding musically like Korn, but then gets right into their brutal-ish core…vocally with a screamy bark, but with almost a rap going back and forth… there’s also some clean vocals popping up here and there. I’m not sure the total extreme different vocals work for me. but you be the judge!
Time Flies (single)
5:23 – 1 Track
Well, I like this band, it’s not always metal… and this track isn’t all that heavy either… just cool chillin’ rock music. I’ll try n get parts of it on the air though
Wicked Wonderland EP
20:17 – 5 Tracks
I wasn’t thinking this would be worth anything, but that’s why a guy actually has to listen to stuff, right? Her voice sounds the same as always… actually kinda young… the music is pretty heavy and catchy, and works well. It looks like she worked with her hubby Jim Gillette (yeah, from Nitro) on this, and it is a wall of sound type of production… lots going on, but it’s good!
36:56 – 11 Tracks
A bit different than the typical metal that flys into the CD player lately… kind of a raw stoner metal type of thing. It’s cool, different, sometimes catchy… and good n raw…
46:32 – 11 Tracks
You may have read my review of something a few weeks ago where I went off on something being all Whitesnake… well this is like a heavy Whitesnake. A nice fast paced hard rock/ standard metal thing with nice old school coverdale-like vocals.
34:24 – 13 Tracks
What do you get when you take most of Strapping Young Lad/ Zimmers Hole… then add Steve Sousa on vocals? Awesomeness… that’s what you get. Fast, thrashy, brutal, heavy, with that edge that Zetro adds on vocals.
