New Stuff This Week… 5/23/16
The Amity Affliction
“I Bring The Weather With Me” [Single]
Roadrunner
This is the band that like, well, it’s heavy then they have that singy stuff. Just not for the Mosh Pit.
Gojira
“Silvera” [Single]
Roadrunner
2nd single and yup… still good. Good melodic hooks, still heavy riffage and while it’s not BRUTAL HEAVY there’s just this heavy feel (kinda like all their stuff)
SUNS OF THYME
Cascades
Napalm Records
Kind of a melodic stoner rock. Laid back, chilled out jams.
GRUESOME
Dimensions Of Horror (NA Promo)
Relapse Records
20 May 2016
This super group of sorts…featuring current and former members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation, and Derketa… has lots of great raw brutal death metal stuff going on.
DEATH
Scream Bloody Gore (Reissue – 3CD Promo)
Relapse Records
Always a good excuse to unearth a classic. Reissues! This one was kinda crappy sounding to begin with, seems kinda cleaned up and 2 discs of crappy sounding rarities for the true fan.
Assassin
Combat Cathedral
SPV
Heavy sped up thrashy stuff catchy, kinda brutal, good stuff.
VEKTOR –
TERMINAL REDUX
Earache
Kind of a melodic death/heavy thrash. Good technical stuff going on and catchy as all hell too
Pierce The Veil
Misadventures
Fearless
Heavy and catchy, then you get to that happy singy modern metalcore type stuff… musically it’s fairly technical, has almost a bit of a Dragonforce thing going on… but those happy emo vox… meh.
Gutter Instinct
Age Of The Fanatics
Prosthetic Records
A little bit of a grindy death metal. Good wall of brutal death metal. Big meaty grooves and
Katatonia
The Fall Of Hearts
Peaceville Records
Kind of hard to pigeonhole a genre for this band to fit in… they kind of have their own… a melodic proggy doom with blackened metal undertones. Well, this album is just like that… Katatonia-core. Something to chill out to, yet still have some more rocking passages… with lots going on both ways, in the slower parts and the faster parts. Good stuff.
Architects UK
All Our Gods Have Abandonded Us
Epitaph Records
A djenty metalcore thing inching into a little big of progland.
The Order Of Israfel
Red Robes
Napalm Records
A doomy throwback to some maybe Sabbath and more creepy stuff. Big meaty sound with yeah, the throwback, but yet with modern stoner metal crunch too.
…And We All die
…And We All Die
AWAD Records
Four hard rock songs with a little bit of a punky edge, and then a bunch of remixes and reworkings of the same tracks. Maybe more of an alt-rock type thing going on here too.
Six Feet Under
Graveyard Classics IV: The Number of the Priest
Metal Blade Records
So yeah, this band… did 3 others of these covers albums… kinda got a new lineup, the new stuff was great, so why do more covers albums when you’ve had a second wind? Why not I guess. I’m a sucker for covers, but yeah… this one is half Judas Priest and Iron Maiden done in the deathy groove style that is Six Feet Under. Good stuff for fans of all? you decide.
SEKTEMTUM
Panacea
Osmose Productions
I guess this is a grooving black/death metal. Some fast intense black metal type stuff with a grooving death metal vibe too along with maybe a pinch of a melodic punky grind thing too all while having some catchy moments. Not too shabby.
ELDERBLOOD
Messiah
Osmose Productions
A cool epic-like black metal thing reminding me of some earlier Dimmu Borgir. A good thick production with some catchy and melodic riffs all while keeping it brutal.
WeaksaW
The Wretched Of The Earth
Lifeforce
Kind of a metalcore, melodic death metal type thing… maybe a little djent-like. Chugga chugga Meshuggah sound, but with a bit more melodic stuff to break up the chugga chuggas. Cool stuff with a groove.
OVERTURES
Artifacts
Label: SLEASZY RIDER RECORDS
Italian melodic metal. You know, Italian metal just has its own sound, kinda like German metal. German metal has that gritty heaviness… Italian metal has that warm and fuzzy over the top Fabio-like vox with some decent power metal-ish music. So this sounds like that. It’s not bad, it’s just its own genre, right?
STORTREGN
Singularity
Label: Non Serviam Records
Blackened melodic death. Catchy, heavy, brutal in parts, melodic… overall pretty cool stuff.
Blasted To Static
Blasted to Static
Metalopolis
Big screamy vocals, great thrashy classic metal riffs… Kind of a supergroup of some members from classic bands like Racer X, Death Dealer and Steelheart. Classic metal sound with an edge. Meedly guitars and a big voice.
Seventh Xul
Qliphothic Rites of Death 7″ EP
Iron Bonehead
Brutal death metal… production is a bit-raw. A little evil black metal feel, and all brutal for just these 2 tracks.
BOYFRNDZ
Impulse
Brutal Panda Records
Kind of a stoner rock doom thing with a bit of a throwback vibe
ISOLERT
No Hope, No Light…Only Death
Ogmios Underground
CLassic black metal. good and brutal, cold yet melodic and evil.

Eisenwald
This is some good melodic black metal.
AUSTARAS

Melodic proggy black metal a little bit of a doomy feel too.

Good classic metal with a little bit of a thrashy thing going on. vocals are a bit abrasive, but maybe not quite growly.
THRASHIT
KAISER OF EVIL
WITCHES BREW
You can probably guess by the name what this will sound like… and yeah, it’s good catchy classic thrash from Malaysia!
