New Stuff This Week… 7/11/16

Revocation
Great Is Our Sin
Metal Blade Records
This is one of those bands that maybe can’t do wrong at this point.  6th album of technical death metal greatness.  Heavy, catchy, brutal, yet melodic and yet still has that proggy technical goodness.

Night Verses
Into the Vanishing Light
Graphic Nature
Kind of a alternative metal/punk thing, maybe a bit prog-ish too. A little metalcore feel too.

Enrage
Gateways Vol. II
Self-released
This is a heavy groovy thrash type thing with some hardcore going on.  decent stuff.

Blood Red Throne
Union of Flesh and Machine
Candlelight
Classic grooving brutal death metal.  Heavy, yet a good chugga chugga groove with classic cookie monster vox going on.

Ronnie James Dio
A Decade Of Dio
Rhino Records
83-93 box set of remastered Dio tracks.  It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to know this was the heyday of classic solo Dio stuff.  Yeah there are a million re-releases and remasters of this stuff, but any excuse to spin this classic Dio is a good one.

Jinjer
King Of Everything
Napalm Records
Djenty metalcore type stuff with harsh vox and female Otep-like vox too.. pretty decent groove going on.

DUST BOLT
Mass Confusion
Napalm Records
A thrashy grooving heavy metal thing.  A little technical in parts, a little classic metal, but great stuff all around.

DISEMBALLERINA
Poison Gown
Minotauro Records
This is some sorta depressing doomy classical stuff… Can’t find the “metal” in here… i mean it’s “dark”… but no metal!

ETRUSGRAVE
Aita’s Sentence
Label:  Minotauro Records
This is some big big big voice power metal/traditional metal type stuff.  A bit on the epic side, but without all that classical “Epic” keyboardy stuff.

Inter Arma
Paradise Gallows
Relapse
A sludgey post metal doom type thing. It’s not 100% depressing, I’d have to go with maybe just 90% depressing.   lol

Hellsworn
Repulsive Existence
Underground Movement
Great gritty and brutal death metal. Great grooves, with a little raw feeling too.

SUMMIT
The Winds That Forestall Thy Return
I, Voidhanger Records
A post-metal doomy thing, a little proggy and heavy-ish in parts, but overall, a bit depressing and atmospherically gloomy

PSALM ZERO
Stranger To Violence
Profound Lore Records
Gothy alternative “metal”/hard rock

Pestifere
Hope Misery Death
Eihwaz Recordings
Black metal, great groove, sufficiently evil sounding, a good catchy groove and technicality too.

ASSCHAPEL
Total Destruction (1999-2006)
Southern Lord
Brutal death metal, quick short songs, catchy groove and did I mention brutal?

Nebelung
Mistelteinn
Temple of Torturous
Folky rock… acoustic-ish

TODAY FOREVER
Derangement
Label:  Bastardized Recordings/Membran
Hardcore metal from Germany, good stuff.

Vow of Thorns
Farewell To The Sun
Forest Dweller Inc.
Mostly black metal, but with a melodic black metal feel.  The melodic stuff has a little Iron Maiden vibe while still being all cold and classic black metal sounding too.

Band: Dizziness / Lord Impaler / Hell Poemer
Album: Carved By The Winds Eternal
Label: Symbol Of Domination
Dizziness is some good brutal black metal, and so is Lord Impaler, while Hell Poemer adds a bit of a symphonic epic feel.

Band: Granada
Album: PrisionEgo
Label: Symbol Of Domination
A little thrash, a lot of groove and maybe a little deathy stuff going on. Pretty decent stuff. Catchy and headbangin’!

Hellevate
Weapons Against Their Will
Self Released (Online Metal PRomo)
This is some heavy catchy thrash, really good stuff, has that old school feel, with a bit of a new school brutality all with classic sung/screaming thrash vox… no growls.  Great stuff.

OCEANS OF TIME
Trust
Label:  Self-Released
This is textbook prog power metal, great proggy stuff a la Dream Theater while throwing in some more power metal influence too…and staying heavy too!  Great stuff.

Band: Wormreich / Diabolus Amator / Gravespawn / Vesterian
Album: Infirmos Vocat Deus Fidei
Label: Symbol Of Domination
Wormreich is more of a raw classic black metal, Diabolus Amator a bit more creepy and brutal, Gravespawn is good classic black metal, Vesterian is pretty brutal black metal with some creepy screamy growly vox.

ATHAME
With Cunning Fire and Adversial Resolve
Grimoire Records
A brutal black metal/death metal type thing, maybe a little grindy, but mostly a wall of black metal sound.

Band: While They Sleep
Album: La Nausee
Label: Symbol Of Domination
Old school noisy black metal.

Band: Hauser
Album: (des)razão
Release date: 1 April 2016
Grindy death metal with some groove.

AEGEON
Devouring The Sun
Elegy Records
More old school brutal black metal… This has a little doomy feel but still the cold guitars and evil shreiking.

Band: Harvest
Album: Omnivorous
Label: Symbol Of Domination
Thrashy metal, which at one time may have been considered death metal because of the growly vox, but nowadays, it’s just some more brutal thrashy metal.  Good stuff either way!

NERODIA
Vanity Unfair
Revalve Records
Not fair to this band, but I keep seeing it as “Nerdopia”  haha… it’s Nerodia, which apparently is a genus of North American water snake… in this case it’s a great Italian blackened thrash band. Great riffs, brutal attack and get those horns up!

YARAST
Tunguska 1908
Label:  Revalve Records
Brutal catchy death metal with s a bit of a prog / tech death thing going on

SUBLIMINAL CRUSHER
Darketype

A bit of a grindy death metal, heavy and in your face

of Ash / of Shit / of Shame
No List Records
Techy new metalcore type stuff.  Brutal-ish, definitely technical, a lot going on, pissed off sounding and heavy.

Hard Charger
Bad Omens
Self Released
A bit of a thrashy thing, or just some,  you know, “metal”  maybe a little hardcore, but just good, you know, Metal.

New Stuff This Week… 7/4/16

Nonpoint
The Poison Red
Spinefarm
It’s actually been a while since a Nonpoint album has been serviced to us.  I mean, we were on their first album before anyone and then well, they became the other station in town’s go-to band.  It’s got good solid rockin’ tracks some heavier stuff… all good and catchy.

Motionless in White
570 (Single)
Roadrunner
Wasn’t sure about this band until I saw them live and they brought it pretty good.  Even with the “mallcore” look and maybe feel, these guys keep it heavy and interesting without getting all emo whiney too.

DEFILED
Towards Inevitable Ruin
Season of Mist
Brutal Death metal, a bit technical, although it’s raw too. a little grindy and old school.

Spellcaster
Night Hides the World
Prosthetic Records
A bit of a modern metalcore mixed with traditional metal… I guess I could say they’re more like another Trivium, decent stuff.

Rage
The Devil Strikes Again
Metalville Records
YEs, THE German Rage, pioneers of the original German power metal/metal scene, still tearing it up.  A good gritty standard metal thing with hints of power metal all with that German metal edge.

Clayborg
Reborn
Septigram Records
Standard traditional style metal, with a good meaty grungy base, clean vox, some catchiness but overall it’s melodic metal with a little heavy edge.

DAWN OF DISEASE
Worship The Grave
Napalm Records
Brutal melodic death metal.  Great catchy death metal, but a decent melodic undertone to make it not really qualify as just plain ol death metal.  Great stuff.

PEQUOD
False Divinity
Self Released

Machina Viva

Brutal blackened death metal with some not so great production.  Garage recording?

Snorri

Signal Rex
More screamy brutal old school death metal… not so great production, but in this case I think it adds to the creepy hell sound that’s going on.

Band: Slot
Album: Septima
Self Released
Russian modern metal/alt rock.  Guitar driven electronic wall of sound… maybe a bit more for Rolling with Scissors than the Mosh Pit.

Band: Neid
Album: Atomoxetine
Sliptrick
Fast, to the point grindy deathmetal.  Short brutal tracks with no fucking around…and some catchy grooves to boot!

Band: Dominance

Sliptrick
Basically it’s death metal, but there’s some tech/melodic elements going on too.   This might be the “other add” pick of the week.  cool stuff.

Band: And Harmony Dies
Album: Totenamt
Sliptrick
Melodic death metal on the surface… a bit on that Avant-Garde side of things, or experimental? if you like to call it that.  a bit proggy and out there in parts, straight on melodic death in others.

Band: Shiny Black Anthem
Album: Unbreakable
Sliptrick
Female fronted modern metal, emo-ish vox, well produced commercial sounding type stuff.

Band: Kaeck
Album: Stormkult

Traditional black metal, a little creepy vibe in some stuff with yells and whatnot, but overall, good evil old school black metal.
