Devil in Me Single
Frontiers Music srl
Well, Dio was great, no denying it. But his band was pretty darn good too. Lineup… “former DIO members Vinny Appice (drums), Jimmy Bain (bass) and Claude Schnell (keyboards), along with singer Andrew Freeman, who has previously fronted HURRICANE and LYNCH MOB. ” So you got a basic classic metal thing going on here. Cool stuff…. looking foreward to more!
Pantera
“Piss” / “Avoid The Light” (Singles)
Rhino
A couple tracks as “singles” to commemorate the Pantera “best of” type thing. “Piss” was a true lost track from Vulgar and “Avoid the Light” was from the Dracula 2000 soundtrack. As with any reissue or whatever, it’s usually a good excuse to spin it again.
Danzig
Skeletons
Nuclear Blast Entertainment
Why do long time established artists do covers albums? Well, I guess because they can… and, maybe some creative juices aren’t flowing? Well, doesn’t matter, because I’m a sucker for cover songs, and especially ones that are a “metal” band doing non-metal songs. So there are a few on here. Danzig is the “metal elvis” only appropriate that he covers an Elvis track. Production is a bit “meh” on this, but it’s good and raw and basic too. I’m not quite sure this album is for everyone, maybe for the TRUE Danzig fan.
Trans Siberian Orcherstra
Letters From The Labyrinth
Republic Records
Well, we all know who TSO are…and they now have a new non-christmas and non-concept album. It’s got some cool epic metal stuff going on, all in that TSO style you know. It’s pretty “accessible” so you aren’t going to get a lot of TRUE metal, but it’s good for a few songs on the Mosh Pit!
Adrenechrome
Tales From Adrenechrome
Self-Release
Thrashy, yet melodic metal
ABATUAR
VEJACIÓN DE LA BESTIA/FOSA COMÚN

Signal Rex
A decent compilation of some underground old school black metal.
WOWS
AION
Argonauta Records
Doomy post metal. mostly pretty depressing, which I guess is the point of this whole genre?
DESPITE EXILE
Disperse
Lifeforce
Brutal metalcore… I guess this is just called deathcore? Catchy chuggy riffs with good abrasive vocals… Good stuff!
Tales of the Tomb
Volume One: Morpras

A raw punky black metal… I guess they’d be called “Black n Roll” Or like I said a punked up black metal.
Blackosh
Whores, Booze & Black Metal
Iron Bonehead
A dark heavy black metal. There’s maybe a little bit of a doom thing going on.
Resuscitation
Eviscerated Divinity 7″ EP
Iron Bonehead
Just two tracks, but some great blackened death metal.
Al-Namrood
Diaji Al Joor

This is basically folk metal, but aside from that it’s more of a middle eastern arab folk type sound while still being definitely metal.

Hells Headbangers
Classic black metal with a bit of a thrash element.
Eucharist (Australia)

Svarga Music
Some decent brutal black metal with a pinch of folk metal here and there. Overall pretty meat and potatoes black metal (the good production kind)
The Tumor Called Marla
Trance
Imminence Records
Interesting band name… then I heard it… electronic modern metalcore. Pretty brutal in parts, but the electronic and emo-ish singing probably knock it down a bit for us.
Battle Path
Ambedo
Label: Inherent Records
Atmospheric doomy post-metal type stuff.
Zierler
ESC
Vanity Music Group
When a band hits the inbox and says “progressive metal” it hits me in this little spot of hope… hoping it’s good stuff… and yes, this is! Some great proggy stuff, heavy stuff, melodic stuff… really a great array of what’s prog! Clean and growly vox, good “out there” melodic runs and yeah. PROG METAL!
DARK SYMPHONICA
Immersion
Label: Self-Released
Usually I see “Symphonic Metal” as a genre, I think it’s just going to be some euro Rhapsody type band. Upon first spin of this, it’s more of a heavier Epica type thing. Heavier music, but operatic female vocals without that “epica growl” however, the music is cool and prog/power metal heavy enough to make it cool.
CHASTAIN
We Bleed Metal
Leviathan Records
Cranking out new metal albums every couple years, Chastain is back again and Leather Leone is back showing how female fronted metal is done! Good classic heavy metal stuff!
Lefutray
Oath
Sick Bangers
A deathy groove metal.
FUNERAL MARMOORI
The Deer Woman
Minotauro Records
Just a heavier doom type thing. There’s actually a groove and a throwback stoner metal feel.
Arreat Summit
Frostburn
World Vs Cometh
Swedish deathcore. So yeah, you got that cool melodic death thing going on but with that “core” thing Just a couple songs, but they’re good and brutal!
Third Storm
Taritiya Me
Dark Descent records
Two long songs of doomy black metal.
FLUISTERAARS
Dromers
Eisenwald
Another in the “long song” department, however this is a more melodic black/doom metal thing. Not quite so drony and a bit more classic melodic black metal (with decent production!)
