New Stuff This Week… 11/27/17

Morbid Angel
Kingdoms Disdained
Silver Lining Muisc
First single from the new album, a bit of a down tempo sludgy death metal thing, but still with that signature Morbid Angel guitar tone, it does get going fast in parts, but overall there’s a dark gloom.

Kapala (India)
Infest Cesspool
Dunkelheit Produktionen
It’s so loud and distorted, I’m not sure what it is… I think it’s like raw deathy thrash.

Anatomia
Carnal Obsession DLP
Nuclear War Now! Productions
Kind of a grindy blackened death metal.

BLACK ALTAR / BEASTCRAFT
BLACK ALTAR – “Winds ov Decay” | BEASTCRAFT – “Occult Ceremonial Rites”
Odium
Black Altar is some fast and brutal black metal, Beastcraft is more old school “cold” black metal.

Engulf
Subsumed Atrocities EP
Everlasting Spew Records
Two tracks of good old meaty brutal death metal.

HETMAN
Sewn From The Ashes Book
Svarga
Kind of a melodic death, more on the death metal with somewhat of a doom feeling too.

Evergrey
Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy Reissue
AFM Records
Reissue and remaster of their 2nd album. Good stuff

Evergrey
The Dark Discovery
AFM Records
Reissue and remaster of their 1st album. Good stuff. Looking back as they were under my radar back then, this was some pretty cool stuff for 1998!

Scars Of Solitude
Deformation
Record label: Inverse Records
Melodic death metal, maybe a bit more on the melodic metal side of things, sort of poking into the heavier death feeling stuff.

IGNIS HAERETICUM
Autocognition Of Light
Goathorned Productions
Dark death metal, a big of a blackened doom thing going on.

Jess and the Ancient Ones
The Horse and Other Weird Tales
Svart Records
Female fronted classic freedom rock type stuff.

THE NEGATIVE BIAS
Lamentation of the Chaos Omega
ATMF
I’d have to say this is blackened melodic death. You got some black metal evilness, but brutal death metal all while having some good melody going on.

Valdur
Divine Cessation
Bloody Mountain Records
More death metal, this has some black metal feeling too… as a matter of fact, I guess I’d probably say this is more black metal than death metal. Is anyone reading anymore?

Hard Action
Hot Wired Beat
Svart Records
Kind of a classic hard rock, almost alt rock.

Ieschure
The Shadow CD/LP
Iron Bonehead
Dark black metal, melodic, atmospheric and creepy female vox. And upon further investigation, this is a one woman black metal band.

Domgård
Ödelagt
Carnal Records
Classic black metal, on the lo-fi side of production, but not awful. Just cold and classic!

MAUSOLEUM
Cadaveric Displays From The Funeral
Horror Pain Gore Death
A brutal/gore death metal, production is a bit raw…

PILE OF PRIESTS
Tenebrous Labyrinth EP
Self-Release
This comes off as a more technical thrash-ish death metal. If there’s any indication of their style, they have a Kreator, Coroner and Sadus cover on this EP.

NIGHTFEAR
Cryptasm
Black Market Metal Label
We’re talking an extreme thrashy thing here, a bit of a Slayer feel here, but maybe touching into some Death Metal.

ESTERTOR
Buried In Morningside
World War Now Records
Actually kind of similar to the Nightfear above… it’s got a thrashy thing going on, but kind of getting a little heavier that that

Band: FOLKODIA
Album: Battle of the Milvian Bridge

La Caída De Tonatiuh
Season of Mist
Fast furious extreme death metal, technical, catchy and even a tiny melodic in parts, great brutal stuff.

JEFF SCOTT SOTO
Retribution
Frontiers Music s.r.l.
Well, this guy has been around for a while singing for many different bands, I’m not exactly sure what the difference is between this and his band “SOTO” It looks like just different band members I guess, either way, this is a good solid melodic hard rock album. And the more I’ve heard JSS singing lately, the more I’m liking it. Good catchy hard rock going on here

PRIMAL FEAR
Best of Fear
Frontiers Music s.r.l.
Four new tracks and a best of compilation, you can never go wrong with Primal Fear for classic power metal! The new tracks are solid. Nothing groundbreaking, but good stuff.

BABYLON A.D.
Revelation Highway
Frontiers Music s.r.l.
As with most stuff on this label, it’s either a new release from a classic hard rock band (like this one) or something like a classic hard rock sounding type thing. Well, this is both, right? Remember this band? Kind of hit the scene the same time as grunge and just didn’t make it real far… (I remember them from a big push in college radio). well, they have a new album, and it’s good solid classic hard rock.

SWEET & LYNCH
Unified
Frontiers Music s.r.l.

Interiors

I was in college when these guys first came around… early 1990s, wasn’t a huge fan back then, now a lot has happened since they stopped making records in 1995. Now they’re back. Same kind of thing, melodic and grungy, It’s not too bad, maybe just not for the Mosh Pit

Cavalera Conspiracy
Psychosis
Napalm Records
Well, this is good stuff, kind of well, like old Sepultura-ish (Arise/Chaos AD era). Heavy, catchy, just about like everything Max does, good stuff.

Galactic Cowboys
Long Way Back To The Moon
Mascot Label Group
This band has been one of my favorites and to see they were making a comeback made me happy, and so does this album, it’s like they made this right along Machine Fish. It’s not quite as heavy as some parts on the first couple albums, but it’s got everything that makes this band great, vocal harmonies, catchy and crunchy riffs. Great stuff.

Conan
Man is Myth (Early Demos)

Well, these are “early demos”, so they’re a bit raw, but it’s some sludgey stoner metal.

Hells Headbangers
Kind of raw classic old doom type stuff, kind a sabbath meets kind diamond type thing

Band: GOAT OF MENDES
Album: Hagzussa – Riding The Fence
Label: Witches Brew
A bit classic metal, but some thrash, and maybe a pinch of death metal as the vox get a little growly, but mostly melodic classic metal with a gritty edge.

Band: Radiation
Album: The Gift Of Doom
Label: Witches Brew
This is some cool heavy thrash, maybe just touching on some death metal, good grooves.

Band: Serenade
Album: Onirica
Label: Revalve records
Female fronted metal. Mostly power metal, but kind of a grungy crunchy groove, and probably comparable to like a Lacuna Coil.

Svarthart
Emptiness Filling the Void
Self Released
Depressing blackened doom, a bit lo-fi, but more like mastered on a cassette sound than bandwidth limited lo-fi.

FLAMES OF GENESIS
INTERSTELLAR TRANSMIGRATION PART I: A BRIDGE TO FURTHER REALMS
LABEL: MINOTAURO RECORDS
Post-metal noise.

RIMFROST
A Clash Under The Northern Wind (single)
Label: Non Serviam Records
Grooving black metal. Nice meaty headbanging groove with harsh vox.

Torso Murder
Torso Murder
Self Released
A sort of tech, dark, grooving djent death metal, with some hardcore and prog type stuff too.

UNBOWED
Through Endless Tides
Self Released (asher)
released this past May, just to our inbox… technical melodic death metal. Barked out vox, grooving riffs, atmospheric blackened metal stuff too.

Band: Desecrated Grounds
Album: Lord of Insects
Label: Not on label
CLassic death metal, big grooves, a bit of a thrashy heaviness too.

Masqued
The Light In The Dark
Sleaszy Rider Records (Greece).
Male and Female fronted power/prog metal, decent stuff.

Mask Of Satan
Silent Servants – Chants of Lovecraftian Horror
Self Released
Good ol classic brutal death metal

Scream Of The Butterfly
Ignition
Burning Wax Productions
Stoner metal, hard rock… Decent stuff.

Band: Luna
Album: Swallow Me Leaden Sky
Label: Solitude productions
Two 20+minute tracks of post metal/funeral doom. meh.

Band: Dreamgrave
Album: “Monuments I. – The Anxious”
Label: Prog Heaven Hungary
Now this is real prog metal, female fronted, crazy all over the place type stuff, virtuoustic playing, changing stuff all over the place, heavy, then jazzy, ambient, symphonic… cool stuff.

Zolle
Infesta
Subsound Records
This is seemingly some kind of grooving instrumental stoner metal, a bit heavier than say a Clutch, but solid grooves, catchy tunes that are quick and to the point and no vox!

Kabexnuv
Dzyan
Self
Old school lo-fi black metal.

Ghastly Sound
The Bottom
Magnetic Eye
This is hard to put a finger on, a bit metalcore, a bit of a proggy metal thing, kind of stoner metal, a little sludgey. Clean and harsh vox. Neat stuff.

Space Vacation
Lost In The Black Divide
Pure Steel Records
I had to make sure this wasn’t something on Frontiers records… haha classic hard rock, big clean vox, catchy guitar riffage, not metal, not plain rock, just something cool inbetween.
