Prong
“Cut And Dry” [Single]
SPV
As with the first single, this is good classic catchy Prong!
Killswitch Engage
“Hate By Design” [Single]
Roadrunner
Well this track starts off brutal and full on metal, then shifts gears into a heavier KSE style… cool stuff, they don’t seem to be fucking around on this new one.
Anthrax
“Breathing Lightning” [Single]
Megaforce
As with the Prong… this song is a classic Joey Anthrax song… melodic, catchy with some hooks… not on the heavier/brutal side like the first single. Sounds like it could have been on We’ve Come For You All as a radio single. cool stuff.
Dream Theater
The Astonishing
Roadrunner
What can I say about the band that I call my favorite? I mean, I’m automatically going to like it… What I like most about Dream Theater is the heavier “metal” moments… and sad to say there aren’t a whole lot of those on this 2 CD full on rock opera-like concept album. Typically I say they are like Rush meets Metallica. This album is more like Rush meets Styx. Not that that’s a BAD thing, just like I said, I prefer more metal in my prog metal. Still worth picking up… you’ll need some time to digest it, I know I need more time.
SEVEN SISTERS OF SLEEP
Ezekiel’s Hags (NA Promo)
Relapse Records
Doomy death metal with a bit of grind going on in the heavier stuff. The slower stuff has a good groove too.
OBSCURA
Akróasis (NA Promo)
Relapse Records
Technical, proggy, deathy, a bit metalcore-ish… but really tech death stuff. Brutal in parts, melodic and chilled out in others… great stuff!
BLACK TUSK
Pillars of Ash (NA Promo)
Relapse Records
Stoner metal feel, but heavier and grittier. So like extreme stoner? Yeah. Great meaty riffs, some good grooves, but aggressive too.
Striker
Stand In The Fire
Record Breaking Records
Traditional metal with some thrash leanings… and in some parts the heavy metal saxophone! Overall, there’s a bit of an Iron Maiden feel mixed with some early 90’s hard rock type stuff.
Product Of Hate
Buried In Violence
Napalm Records
Catchy brutal thrash from Wisconsin’s very own Product of Hate. Saw these guys at the Inferno last year. Brutal techy not quite death metal, but heavier than thrash… great stuff.
Drowning Pool
Hellelujah
eOne Entertainment
As much as I wanted to hate this, it’s pretty catchy and good hard rockin’ stuff. While still “solid rock” it’s got a good groove and I’m sure it’d come across even heavier live too. Not sure there will be a long term spot for this on the Mosh Pit, but it’s worth a listen.
Digitalife
Uroboros
Imminence Records
A sort of industrial melodic death type thing. Screamy growling and electronic stuff too… good chugga chuggas and meaty riffs too.

One Morning Left
Metalcore Superstars
Inverse
Emo-ish vox then getting into some growly stuff… so yeah “post metal” or metalcore stuff with singy emo stuff in parts too. Oh yeah, some electronic dancy stuff here and there too. Pretty diverse thing here, but as weird and “emo” as it gets, this Finnish band here is interesting.
