3 Inches Of Blood
Fire Up The Blades
Roadrunner Records
51:51 – 13 Tracks
This new one is what we can now call 3 Inches of Blood, to me, they are a bit of their own genre. The music is heavy, the vocals are all death metal, Judas Priesty, Iron Maideney, all of it…. which is what makes this band pretty cool. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Damnation A.D.
In This Life Or The Next
Victory Records
40:55 – 12 Tracks
This is pretty straighforward new-ish metal. Not quite nu-metal, not metalcore, just plain ol aggresive stuff with the occasional breakdown. You’ll probably hear this on the Mosh Pit.
Even-X
Angry Mirror
Sunland Records
53:56 – 12 Tracks
This is kind of hard rock, more like “solid rock” It sounds good, the songs are alright. The music sounds a bit like Alice in Chains in parts, and almost nu-metal in some other parts. This one gets a Maybe.
Forever In Terror
Restless in the Tides
Metal Blade
54:11 – 10 Tracks
This is more or less aggressive european sounding metal. A bit like Scandinavian stuff. It’s aggressive, thrashy, melodic with some cool harsh vocals and complex metal stuff going on all over the place. It’s cool, you’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Graveworm
Collateral Defect
Nuclear Blast
41:18 – 10 Tracks
Way cool fast death metal/black metal from Italy. We were lucky enough to see these guys in the US a year or so ago… since then I was anxiously awaiting their new album. This surely does not disappoint. Melodic, heavy, complex, yet still easy to listen to. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Marduk
Rom 5:12
Regain Records
55:33 – 10 Tracks
Raw, brutal, evil. Three words to describe Marduk in general… this album just continues that tradition. It’s heavy, evil with some great classic Black metal sound. We’re always excited to get some new raw, evil black metal, especially from an established band such as Marduk. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Marilyn Manson
Eat Me Drink Me
Interscope
52:21 – 11 Tracks
Usually Mr. Manson has some cooler, heavy songs on his albums, while not typically a Mosh Pit band, it’s always good to take a listen, and this album just plods along slow and sludgey with no real standout track to get excited about. Therefore, it’s not anything you will hear on the Mosh Pit. I’ll probably pass it along to Ryan Parks (he does the show before the Mosh Pit!
Pig Destroyer
Phantom Limb
Relapse Records
38:50 – 15 Tracks
Noisy, aggressive, in-your-face. I’m all about a 3 word description today! But that’s what these guys have been in the past, the epitome of the Relapse Records sound. This album is no different of course, they do what they do best, it’s a lot like Napalm Death, but maybe a bit more technical. Some of the music is actually a bit catchy. You’ll hear this on the Mosh Pit!
Strung Out
Blackhawks Over Los Angeles
Fat Wreck Chords
42:22 – 12 Tracks
Well, I’m not sure what to call these guys, they are a bit like Trivium. Yeah, that’s it, Trivium. The music is a spot-on match, and the vocals are a bit more clean. It’s a bit light for the Mosh Pit though. So, it gets a maybe for airplay.
Visions of Atlantis
Trinity
Napalm Records
47:43 – 11 Tracks
What’s this? A euro-metal band with female vocals? What did I call that again? That’s right. Femetal! Yes. This is like just about all the other stuff, some power-prog metal as backing music this time with clean vox. This one compares MORE to Lacuna Coil as there is a guy singer too. Most of it is more hard rock-ey than Metal. It’s something you might hear here and there on the ol Mosh Pit!
